Türkiye has become one of the six countries to use its own armed UAVs with its own ammunition. Selçuk Bayraktar shared with his followers on social media that the first domestically produced armed UAV, Bayraktar, manufactured by Baykar Makina, started its mission last week.
The domestically produced Bayraktar TB2 UAV hit its target with pinpoint accuracy in test firings conducted in April from a distance of 8km using the domestically produced Smart Munition MAM-L. The Bayraktar TB2, the first domestically produced UAV to enter the Turkish Armed Forces inventory, has been armed after approximately a year of development. In its first test firing, the Bayraktar TB2 hit its target with pinpoint accuracy. The long-range domestically produced Smart Munition ’MAM“ anti-tank missile (UMTAS) developed by Roketsan was used as ammunition on the Bayraktar TB2.
