Ismail Demir, the head of the Defense Industry, shared the information on his social media account that the domestically produced CATS cameras, which will be used in national UAV systems, are ready for mass production.
Despite all embargoes and obstruction attempts, the Turkish defense industry continues its progress with confident steps by nationalizing critical systems. Following Canada's embargo decision against military products, it was decided to begin mass production of domestically produced versions of CATS cameras used in national UAVs. Developed by Aselsan with various capabilities, these CATS cameras will enable national UAVs and combat helicopters with different payload capacities to perform day and night imaging and targeting tasks.
What is CATS (Common Aperture Targeting System)?
CATS is a high-performance electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting system developed for fixed-wing or rotary-wing aerial platforms, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, and airplanes.
