Karsan e-ATAK Autonomous Electric Bus

Karsan's Level 4 autonomous electric bus, "Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK," developed in collaboration with its technology partner ADASTEC, has begun providing public transportation services in Stavanger, Norway.

Thus, Karsan e-ATAK became the first autonomous bus in Europe to transport passengers within a city. At the project launch event in Stavanger, an official opening ceremony was held at the bus stop on Nedre Strandgate 89 to mark the start of Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK's public transport service. The ceremony, attended by Norwegian Minister of Transport Jon-Ivar Nygård, Karsan CEO Okan Baş, ADASTEC CEO Ali Ufuk Peker, Norwegian politicians, numerous press representatives, and senior executives from Karsan, ADASTEC, VY Buss, Kolumbus, and Applied Autonomy – the companies that made the project possible – saw Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK transport its first passengers from the Nedre Strandgate 89 bus stop to the Concert Hall.

In his statements on the subject, Karsan CEO Okan Baş said, “With our vision of always being one step ahead in the future of mobility, we at Karsan are shaping the future of transportation with the innovative products we develop. Our driverless vehicle, Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK, which was used in real traffic conditions on the Michigan State University campus, is now starting to provide driverless public transportation services in Norway with this project. This is a first in Europe. We are very happy that for the first time in Europe, urban public transportation services will be carried out with our driverless electric vehicle, Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK.”.
