Hardware and Software Under One Roof: A Major Factory Move from Şımart Teknoloji with a 5 Million Capacity

Şımart Teknoloji has opened its new 15,600 m² factory in Ankara. With production capacity raised to 5 million units, the company aims to reach 1 million households in 2027 with its 80-product smart home ecosystem.

Şımart Teknoloji, one of the first domestic brands that come to mind in Türkiye when smart living and the Internet of Things (IoT) are mentioned, has passed a historic threshold in its growth journey. Founded just 6 years ago with the vision of young Turkish engineers, the company held the official opening of its new production base, covering a total area of 15,600 square metres in Ankara, on 3 October 2026.

Bringing the vertical integration model applied by global giants (Apple, Tesla and others) to Türkiye by gathering software, hardware design and production under a single centre, Şımart Teknoloji is racing towards its goal with this vast facility, declaring "there will be no home left in Türkiye that isn't smart."

5 Million Production Capacity and AI-Supported Lines

Şımart's new technology base in Ankara has features far beyond those of a standard assembly line. With its new facility, the company is raising its existing annual production capacity of 1.6 million units to over 5 million in a single stroke.

While full and semi-automatic robotic arms are deployed on the production lines, fully AI-supported systems are used in quality control processes. Indeed, even the monitoring of this entire major and critically important operation and its data flow is carried out not through external software, but through a domestic ERP (Management and Production Tracking) system developed by the company's own engineers.

An 80-Product Ecosystem: From Cleaning to Security

While many domestic technology companies focus on a single product, Şımart Teknoloji stands out with its integrated smart ecosystem strategy. The company's active product range has today reached exactly 80.

From the Katya series of smart robot vacuum cleaners to window, lawn and pool cleaning robots, and from smart security cameras to climate control, lighting and pet care solutions, this entire extensive product family can be managed through a single cloud infrastructure coded by Turkish engineers and the "Şımart Mobile Application."

New Target: Reaching 1 Million Homes in 2027

Summarising the company's vision at the opening, Şımart Teknoloji Chairman Mehmet Türker stated that they have adopted the principle of offering domestic technology to the public at prices as accessible as possible.

Today serving more than 400,000 active users in 12 different countries, including the UK, Europe and the US, the company aims, with the strength provided by the new factory, to reach exactly 1 million active users and 1 million households by the end of 2027. Skilled employment, which has today reached 120 people, is planned to exceed 200 by the end of the year (particularly in the fields of software and robotics engineering).

This technology campus, one of the most concrete proofs of what Turkish engineers can achieve with domestic capital, stands as one of the greatest strongholds that will end Türkiye's external dependency in the smart home market.

How Will Vertical Integration Change Türkiye's Smart Home Market?

Şımart Teknoloji's move points to a scale unprecedented in Türkiye's smart home market. Most of the brands that come to mind when smart home products are mentioned follow an assembler model, combining hardware procured from different manufacturers with their own software. This model creates external dependency in product quality and update processes. Şımart's gathering of software, hardware design and production under a single roof creates a domestic version of the vertical integration model that Apple and Tesla have applied for many years. This approach increases compatibility between products while also providing a cost advantage.

The 80-product ecosystem stands out for being manageable through a single application. The obligation for users to manage smart devices bought from different brands through separate applications is eliminated in Şımart's integrated structure. This is a significant convenience, particularly for users taking their first steps into smart home technologies. The company's reaching more than 400,000 active users in 12 countries is noteworthy in that it shows a domestic brand can compete in the global market.

However, the sustainability of this growth story depends on performance in software updates and data security. Smart home devices enter the most private spaces of users. While Şımart's use of its own cloud infrastructure provides an advantage in terms of data sovereignty, the continuity of cyber security investment is critical. The target of reaching 1 million households in 2027 shows that the scale in this field will grow rapidly. Türkiye's claim to reduce external dependency in the smart home market will only be possible if such domestic production moves are supported consistently.
