The signing ceremony for the Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) Cooperation Project Framework Agreement between TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and HAVELSAN was held at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.
The domestically developed and manufactured Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) serves as the brain of domestic technology and software in critical areas. This operating system;
- Minimizing external dependence in safety-critical systems.
- To make us feel completely secure against intrusions and intrusions
- It allows for complete control over the systems and prevents unauthorized access to system information through unknown backdoors.
The agreement licenses HAVELSAN all rights related to the promotion, dissemination, marketing, sales, training, development of card support packages, field support, maintenance and sustainment activities of GIS both domestically and internationally.
HAVELSAN will also contribute to the development of new capabilities and features to be added at the middleware level.
TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, with the experience, capabilities, and support of HAVELSAN, will continue the development activities of GIS in line with new technological developments and the safety-critical system needs of various sectors.
GIS, licensed to HAVELSAN, will become widespread in the domestic market and will also compete in the international market with various operating systems such as Integrity, Vxworks, and Qnx.
HAVELSAN and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM will develop a domestic and national "Avionics Interface Development Environment" software compatible with GIS, to replace the Avionics Interface Development Environment software (Presagis VAPS XT, Ansys SCADE, etc.) that we are still dependent on from abroad, together with companies in the Business Ecosystem.
In addition, a real-time operating system called "GIS Automotive" for the automotive sector and a "GIS Internet of Things Operating System" for Internet of Things (IoT) devices will be developed.
This collaboration between HAVELSAN and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM will contribute to the development of domestic and national software-based technologies in many critical technology areas, especially in defense and aerospace.
REAL TIMELY WHAT IS AN OPERATING SYSTEM?
Operating systems are necessary for the execution of multiple complex functions on computer hardware.
Operating systems enable computer hardware to be used collaboratively across various functions.
Real-time operating systems are required when the execution time of functions running on the hardware is critical.
In this sense, real-time operating systems, compared to classical operating systems, allow functions to run reliably and deterministically in a defined time and order.

Real-time operating systems have functions that are performed in a defined time and order;
Defense, Aviation, Space, Automotive, Rail Transportation, Nuclear Power Plants, Medical Electronics and serves many other safety-critical sectors, in embedded computers It is used as an operating system.
Currently, ASELSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE, TUSAŞ, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM İLTAREN, and TEI are continuing their work on many domestic and national projects.
