Karsan, while playing a pioneering role worldwide in the electric and autonomous transformation of public transportation, continues its work in Türkiye without slowing down. Having made a name for itself, particularly in the European market, with its innovative models, Karsan is now offering its electric vehicle technology to the people of Istanbul, following Antalya and Bursa.
Three e-ATAK vehicles, manufactured at Karsan's factory in Hasanağa, Bursa, have been delivered to Güngören Municipality and will provide service among the municipality's facilities.
Muzaffer Arpacıoğlu, Deputy General Manager of Commercial Affairs at Karsan, stated that the company exports and provides services to a wide geographical area, from the USA to Japan. Arpacıoğlu said, “While rapidly expanding Karsan's vehicle fleet, primarily in Europe and around the world, we are also continuing to transform Türkiye's public transportation. We are proud that our electric buses, which previously began service in the fleets of Antalya and Bursa Municipalities, will now be working to make life easier in a district like Güngören in Istanbul, where traffic congestion is high.”.
As part of Güngören Municipality's "Easy Transportation Project," residents will be able to reach locations such as Hanımeli Mansion, the cultural center, and sports facilities using 100% electric Karsan e-ATAK buses. These 8-meter buses will be used for social transfers.
The e-ATAK was introduced in Europe in 2019 and quickly rose to a leading position in its segment. The vehicle has a range of 300 kilometers with its 220 kWh BMW batteries and is 8.3 meters long. It also features a 230 kW electric motor. It can be charged in 5 hours with AC charging units and in 3 hours with fast charging units.
Karsan operates in 23 countries with more than 1,300 electric vehicles and maintains its leadership in Türkiye by increasing its electric vehicle fleet to 67. The company continues to progress towards becoming a global brand with its innovative product and service approach. Karsan's e-ATAK model plays a significant role in the Turkish public transportation market.
