The first batch of the KORKUT Air Defense System, developed by ASELSAN and FNSS to meet the air defense needs of armored and mechanized units, was delivered to the Land Forces Command in November 2016.
In the project, which includes the production of 40 KORKUT Weapon System Vehicles and 13 Command and Control Vehicles, serial production deliveries are planned to begin in 2018, with the final delivery scheduled for 2022.
The KORKUT System was developed to enable mobile units and mechanized troops to effectively conduct air defense against air-to-ground munitions, cruise missiles, helicopters, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with a high accuracy rate while on the move, in all types of terrain and weather conditions, day and night. KORKUT will operate in teams consisting of three Weapon System Vehicles (WSVs) and one Command and Control Vehicle (CCV).
FNSS supplies the vehicle requirements for the Korkut platform with the ZMA-30. The ZMA-30 platform has a stronger suspension capacity and increased power unit performance compared to the ZMA-15 and AKINCI ZMA. ASELSAN is developing the target detection, weapon, and fire control systems for the Korkut platform domestically using national resources.
