The national microprocessor ÇAKIL is coming.

The domestically produced microprocessor, codenamed "Çakıl," will replace foreign microprocessors used in weapon systems.

Minister of Industry and Technology Varank, who visited the BİLGEM laboratories, announced that the domestically produced microprocessor, named Çakıl, will replace foreign microprocessors used in weapons systems.

Varank stated that they will create a roadmap for laser weapons with the High-Powered Laser Project, adding, "The outcome of this project will be the development of an Air Defense Laser System against artillery, mortars, rockets, and guided missiles. Threats from the air will be neutralized with lasers.".

During Varank's visit to BİLGEM, he was accompanied by Deputy Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Kocaeli Governor Hüseyin Aksoy, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, TÜBİTAK Board Member Haluk Bayraktar, and Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation. During the visit, BİLGEM President Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar briefed Varank on the center's activities.

STRATEGIC INDEPENDENCE

Stating that their aim with the National Technology Initiative is to provide technological depth from platforms to sub-systems, from chip technology to advanced software algorithms, he said, “At BİLGEM, technologies of critical importance for our strategic independence are being developed. It has a wide testing infrastructure. The real-time operating system of the National Fighter Aircraft, the laser seeker head detector of smart bombs used by our UAVs and fighter jets, advanced communication intelligence equipment, national crypto systems, and all air radar systems are being developed here by our R&D engineers.”.
