Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık stated that the configuration and architecture of the domestically produced electric car with extended range have been created, adding, "If we implement the domestically produced electric car project concept with extended range as planned, the public sector may need to queue up to purchase the vehicles.".
Stating that the configuration and architecture of the domestically produced electric car with increased range have been created, Işık said, “We have designed a structure where the R&D of the car will be carried out by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), the engineering and design studies will be carried out by a structure in which TÜBİTAK is also a partner but the majority is undertaken by the private sector, and in production, the private sector will take the initiative entirely, with TÜBİTAK or the public sector having a very small, symbolic presence only in terms of the strength it will give to the company.”.
Işık stated that they have taken steps regarding the studies to be conducted within TÜBİTAK concerning the structure in question. He mentioned that they are continuing their work with engineering and design companies, as well as with companies in Türkiye that can carry out this production, and expressed his hope that the domestic automobile project will mature in a short time.
