Türkiye's first domestic satellite ground station project has been launched, aiming to design, manufacture, test, and integrate more satellite ground station systems using domestic resources.
The National Ground Station Development Project (MİYEG) was launched with a ceremony. The ceremony was attended by TÜBİTAK Vice President Prof. Dr. Abdullah Çavuşoğlu, TÜBİTAK Space Institute Director Dr. Lokman Kuzu, Head of Research, Development and Entrepreneurship Department of the Ministry of Development Özgür Kadir Özer, Head of R&D and Technology Department of the Ministry of National Defence Eng. Col. Hayri Özden, and officials from the Air Force Command.
Dr. Lokman Kuzu, Director of TÜBİTAK UZAY Institute, who gave a presentation about the MİYEG project, stated that the project is extremely important for Turkey, saying, “TÜBİTAK UZAY is making history once again with the National Ground Station Development Project (MİYEG), which will be carried out to meet the ground station needs of all earth observation satellites planned to be launched in the coming years by developing a national ground station for earth observation satellites.”.
