The 17th T129 ATAK helicopter, developed and manufactured domestically by TAI and having completed all its tests, has also been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces.
Following the contract signed in 2007 for the procurement of 50 helicopters to meet the Turkish Armed Forces' need for "Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopters," an additional Early Delivery Helicopter (EDH) contract, aiming for the 15-month early delivery of 9 more helicopters, was signed in 2010.
The T129 ATAK, which resulted from modifying the AgustaWestland A129 airframe to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces by changing the engine, transmission, and tail rotors, as well as equipping it with domestically produced avionics and weapon systems, holds the title of being the most effective attack helicopter in its class worldwide.
