The "On-Site Inspection and Final Report Meeting" for the "Development of E1000 Type Electric Locomotive" project, in which the General Directorate of State Railways of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications is the Client Institution, TÜLOMSAŞ General Directorate is the Manager, and TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute is the Executor, was held on February 26, 2016, at the TÜLOMSAŞ facilities in Eskişehir.
During the test run, the locomotive, loaded with a 1000-ton train weight, was tested on a flat road. During the test, the train deceleration and anti-skid systems were successfully tested during starts and stops, achieving the target speed of 65 km/h with the 1000-ton load. In November 2015, during inclined road tests on the Bilecik ramps, the % locomotive successfully passed stop-start tests and regenerative descent and stop tests with a 520-ton load on a 2.8 incline.
With its traction and control systems, the E1000 Project, which is the most powerful vehicle produced domestically in Türkiye, involved the development and prototype production of a 1 MW electric locomotive with a modern AC drive system to meet TCDD's maneuvering and short-distance freight transportation needs.
Rail vehicle drive and control systems such as traction converters, traction control units, and central control units, which are among the highest value-added components in the rail vehicle sector and are only possessed by developed countries in the world, were designed and manufactured domestically.
