The new generation ASELSAN KORKUT Low Altitude Air Defense System, which utilizes "Particle Munition" technology possessed by only a few armies in the world, is being delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces.
In an era of diversified air threats, where drones and cruise missiles dominate the battlefield, Türkiye is nationalizing yet another critical capability. Developed by ASELSAN and designed for the air defense of mobile units, KORKUT, With its smart munitions capability, it is entering the inventory. Steel Wall with Smart Munitions “ATOM”
The greatest strength that sets the KORKUT system apart from its competitors is the power that shoots out of its barrel. 35 mm Fragmented Ammunition (ATOM) It lies in its technology.
Unlike a typical anti-aircraft round, ATOM is programmed by the system with a precision of one-thousandth of a second to determine the target's distance and speed as it leaves the barrel. Instead of hitting the target, the munition shatters in mid-air directly in front of it, scattering hundreds of tungsten particles. This creates an impenetrable "steel wall" in the air, destroying the target (missile, UAV, or aircraft) as it passes through it.
