TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Vessel

The R/V TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Vessel, built with domestic resources at the Çeksan Shipyard in Tuzla, was launched at a ceremony. The vessel, which will conduct research in the field of environment, will begin its mission in May 2013 after the completion of its interior outfitting.

Within the scope of the "Marine Research Center of Excellence Infrastructure Project," conducted by the Environmental Institute of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) and supported by the Ministry of Development and TÜBİTAK, a research vessel was constructed. The TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Vessel, completed by Çeksan Shipbuilding Steel Construction Industry, was launched at a ceremony. The ceremony, held at the company's shipyard in Tuzla, was attended by the Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Nihat Ergün, the Minister of Development Cevdet Yılmaz, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Yücel Altunbaşak, Istanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, TÜBİTAK MAM Acting President Prof. Dr. İbrahim Dinçer, President of the Chamber of Maritime Commerce Metin Kalkavan, General Director of Shipyards and Coastal Structures Hızır Reis Deniz, guests, and shipyard employees.
