Milcep K2 uses two independent processors for telephone software and voice encoding software, distinguishing between red (open information) and black (closed, encrypted information).
The crypto module in the Milcep K2 is designed to be removable. When this module is removed and the normal cover is attached, the phone functions like a regular GSM phone.
All software on the Milcep K2 was developed by TÜBİTAK UEKAE and runs on the open-source LINUX operating system. The phone uses the SCIP protocol, which enables secure communication between devices operating on different communication channels.
