With the "Development of Miniature Infrared Camera Module" project supported by TÜBİTAK, the first uncooled miniature infrared camera was developed in Türkiye. The infrared camera, which is produced in very few countries worldwide, received orders from abroad as soon as the design phase was completed.
The Middle East Technical University (METU) Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Research and Application Center has developed a miniature infrared camera module using low-cost, uncooled infrared imaging sensors. Center Director Prof. Dr. Tayfun Akın explained that the center, established 15 years ago, developed a low-cost, uncooled infrared imaging sensor with the support of the TÜBİTAK TEYDEB 1507 SME R&D Start-up Project. Akın added that with a second grant from TEYDEB, they further developed a miniature infrared camera using these uncooled infrared imaging sensors.
