Ismail Demir, President of the Defense Industry, spoke about the 2022 targets of the Turkish defense industry at the "2021 Review and 2022 Targets Meeting" held at HAVELSAN.
Speaking to reporters at the meeting where the KARASİM project, which includes fifteen simulators developed by HAVELSAN, was also signed, İsmail Demir indicated that 2022 would be the year for the completion and delivery of projects started in previous years. He also shared the information that 2022 would be a year in which new projects would begin in line with the needs of the Turkish defense industry.
During the meeting, İsmail Demir also mentioned projects planned for delivery in 2022, stating that parts production for the MMU (National Combat Aircraft) will continue. He added that the Gökbey helicopter will enter service with the Gendarmerie General Command this year, that the HÜRJET Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft will be rolled out of the hangar and ground tests will begin, that the Mini UAV-D systems and the BOYGA mini UAV (which drops ammunition) will be used for the first time, that deliveries of the PARS 6x6 mine-resistant vehicle and the ZAHA Armored Amphibious Assault Vehicle will be made, and that the TB3 UAV, which is being developed to take off from ships with short runways, will make its first flight.
Ismail Demir also announced that domestically produced engines will begin to be used in SOM and ATMACA missiles, and shared the information that the GÖKDENİZ Close Air Defense System will be integrated into the İSTANBUL Frigate. The SUNGUR and KARAOK systems are also among the products that will be included in the Turkish Armed Forces' inventory in 2022. At the meeting, where information was shared about the deployment of many new systems in the field of Electronic Warfare and Radar, it was also announced that M60T tanks will be integrated with the Volkan Fire Control system.
One of the most important developments shared at the meeting was that the deliveries of the GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN air-to-air defense missiles will be completed this year, significantly reducing dependence on foreign sources in this area.
The fifteen KARASIM simulator systems, developed and contracted by HAVELSAN, will provide Turkish Land Forces personnel with the opportunity to receive training in areas such as marksmanship, shooting, and tactics.
