The engines for the F-35, a new generation fighter jet jointly manufactured by 9 countries led by the US, will be produced in the Aegean Free Zone.

Minister of State Zafer Çağlayan made statements to journalists on the plane after his trip to the United States.

Stating that the US-based United Technologies Corporation (UTC) has been in contact with Kale Kalıp since 2009, Çağlayan provided the following information:

”They will sign the agreement next week. UTC manufactures both Sikorsky helicopters and the F-135 engines for the F-35 military aircraft. Kalep Kalıp will produce the F-135 engines for the F-35 military aircraft. Initially, they will manufacture more than 90 percent, and very soon after, the entire production.’.
