Arçelik, one of Türkiye's technology and industry giants, has officially opened its new washing machine production facility in Manisa — one of the most concrete examples of the Industry 4.0 vision — with a magnificent ceremony. Realised with a massive investment of approximately €200 million and carrying Türkiye's domestic production strength to the pinnacle of global standards, the facility draws attention for its fully autonomous production infrastructure.
The 92,000-square-metre mega complex, opened with the participation of Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Besim Dutlulu, Koç Holding Honorary Chairman Rahmi M. Koç, Vice Chairman of the Board Ali Y. Koç, Koç Holding CEO Levent Çakıroğlu and Arçelik CEO Can Dinçer, constitutes a milestone in the technological transformation of domestic industry.
A 44,000-Square-Metre Fully Autonomous "Dark Factory"
Yeni işletmenin en çarpıcı özelliği, insan müdahalesini en aza indiren ileri otomasyon mimarisine sahip olması. Tesis genelinde otomasyon seviyesi %75’e ulaşırken, 44 bin 700 metrekarelik bir bölüm tamamen “karanlık fabrika” (insansız otonom üretim alanı) olarak çalışıyor. Gelişmiş robotik kollar ve yapay zeka destekli üretim bantları ile donatılan fabrika, her 6 saniyede 1 çamaşır makinesi üretebiliyor.
An Environmentally Friendly Production Base
One of the most notable features of the new factory is its environmentally friendly production model. The 10.2 MWp solar power plant (SPP) installed within the campus meets approximately 46 per cent of the facility's annual electricity requirement. Thanks to this infrastructure, designed in line with carbon footprint reduction targets, Arçelik has succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas emissions at its new operation by a record rate of 95 per cent.
Export from Arçelik to 106 Countries
Arçelik's new base in Manisa targets the global market not only with its technological infrastructure but also with its production capacity. With an annual production capacity of close to 4 million units, the facility directly exports 44 per cent of the washing machines rolling off the line to 106 different countries.
