ASPİLSAN Cylindrical Battery production

The machinery, equipment, and auxiliary systems for Türkiye's and Europe's first lithium-ion cylindrical battery production facility, to be established in Kayseri by ASPİLSAN Enerji, have arrived in Türkiye.

Making a statement regarding the arrival of the machinery, equipment, and auxiliary systems in our country, ASPİLSAN Energy General Manager Ferhat Özsoy said: “The production of the machinery and systems for our ASPİLSAN Energy Li-ion Battery Production Facility, which was deemed eligible for “Project-Based State Aid” with the approval of our President on August 6, 2021, has been completed in South Korea. In September, the Factory Acceptance Tests of the machines were meticulously carried out with the participation of ASPİLSAN Energy engineers. Our machinery and systems, which departed from South Korea on December 2nd, arrived in our country as of January 3rd. A total of 79 containers have reached Kayseri.”.

The New Era in Energy is Just Days Away.

As ASPİLSAN Energy, an organization of the Turkish Armed Forces Strengthening Foundation, we have been working since our establishment to enable our country to achieve its technology and renewable energy goals. With this new investment, ASPİLSAN Energy will become the only company producing battery cells in the region. This will end our dependence on foreign sources and allow us to produce entirely with national technology. With this investment, our country will take its first steps in this technology and enter a new era. The fact that batteries, which are a part of every technological product, are being produced and their technology is developing in our country will eliminate our dependence on foreign sources for this critical component and will be an important step in reducing the current account deficit. Over time, we plan to become much more competitive by developing cost-reducing measures and to reduce our dependence on foreign sources with an annual production capacity of 220 MWh.

Türkiye is being introduced to Lithium-Ion Battery Technology.

With this investment, ASPİLSAN Energy will be bringing technology to our country in the field of NMC chemistry and cylindrical type battery design, development, and production methodology. Serial production of the 25,000 m³ battery will begin around the end of April.2’With our Lithium-ion Battery Production Facility, which has a closed area of [number] square meters, our country will be introduced to lithium-ion technology and will carry out its production.

In our lithium-ion battery production facility, we will be producing cells used in the production of battery systems needed by both the defense industry and other sectors. The cells we produce will enable the manufacturing of batteries for radio, weapon systems, night vision, and jammer systems, as well as batteries used in other sectors such as e-bikes, e-scooters, telecommunications batteries, robotic system batteries, medical batteries, household appliance batteries, and energy storage systems.

As ASPİLSAN Energy, which will be Türkiye's and Europe's first lithium-ion cylindrical battery mass production facility, I would like to state that we will continue our work without slowing down, with the pride of adding strength to our country's power.”
