New AI-Powered Asymmetric Striking Power from Baykar: MIZRAK Loitering Munition

Baykar successfully completed the live firing test of its new MIZRAK Intelligent Loitering Munition, featuring a 40 kg payload capacity and AI-powered visual diving capabilities.

The Turkish defence industry is deploying another powerful platform that will rewrite asymmetric warfare doctrines. Baykar announced that it has successfully completed the live munition firing test of its new-generation MIZRAK Smart Loitering Munition system. The test footage shared on the company's official social media accounts demonstrated the system's AI-powered autonomous strike capability to the world. Moreover, this strategic striking power will be showcased for the first time at the SAHA EXPO 2026 fair, to be held at the Istanbul Expo Centre on May 5-9.

40 Kilograms of Artificial Intelligence

Baykar engineers designed the MIZRAK platform to be both agile and possess high destructive power. According to official data shared, the munition has a wingspan of 4 metres, a length of 3.6 metres, and a height of 1.2 metres. The system's maximum take-off weight reaches 200 kilograms. Furthermore, the vehicle carries a massive payload of 40 kilograms.

Looking at its technological infrastructure, we see that the system offers a communication range exceeding 80 kilometres. Instead of blindly heading to its target, the vehicle uses AI-Powered Target Detection and Visual Diving algorithms. Therefore, upon reaching the target area, MIZRAK loiters in the air, identifying the enemy with its optical cameras. The system then performs an autonomous visual dive onto the target's most vulnerable point without requiring human intervention.

The Smart Munition Family is Growing

The most effective way to overcome air defence systems on the modern battlefield is the use of smart loitering munitions. Classic missiles go directly to their target after launch. However, loitering munitions loiter in the air for hours, searching for opportunity targets. Indeed, Baykar recently announced other kamikaze platforms such as the K2 and SİVRİSİNEK, which operate with autonomous swarm intelligence.

With its heavy 40-kilogram warhead capacity, MIZRAK stands out as a much more destructive member of this family. This high explosive capacity offers the ability to destroy not only infantry units but also lightly armoured vehicles, radar stations, and enemy ammunition depots in a single strike. Furthermore, the fact that the system will be exhibited for the first time at SAHA EXPO 2026 exponentially increases the fair's commercial appeal for global defence professionals.

MIZRAK's successful completion of live firing tests indicates that the platform is ready for operational use in the field. Türkiye is increasing its capability to deliver heavy blows deep into enemy territory without putting manned combat aircraft in dangerous zones.
