The Bayraktar TB3, an armed unmanned aerial vehicle developed domestically and originally by Baykar, took to the skies on the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
The Bayraktar TB3 is the world's first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of taking off from and landing on ships with short runways.
The Bayraktar TB3 took off at 08:30 on Friday, October 27th, from the AKINCI Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu district of Tekirdağ, following the completion of ground tests. System identification tests were also successfully carried out during the one-hour flight.
The Bayraktar TB3 used the PD-170 engine, developed by TEI, in its first flight. Producing 170 horsepower, the engine was designed to be compatible with maritime conditions.
Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman and Technology Leader of Baykar, stated after the successful flight that the Bayraktar TB3 is a gift for the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Bayraktar noted that when the Bayraktar KIZILELMA Unmanned Combat Aircraft and the Bayraktar TB3 UAV begin service on aircraft carriers with short runways like the TCG Anadolu, a revolution in air combat will occur.
The Bayraktar TB3 UAV was also publicly displayed as part of TEKNOFEST, held in three major cities to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Republic. The UAV, which attracted significant public interest, will have a ripple effect on Türkiye's deterrent power.
