BMC, in collaboration with ASELSAN, showcased its electric city bus, PROCITY+ 12M EV, for the first time at Busworld Europe 2023.
BMC and ASELSAN have partnered to develop Procity+ 12M EV, Türkiye's first electric city bus. This bus is designed as both an environmentally friendly and economical mode of transportation. One of its most important features is its self-charging capability thanks to a roof-mounted pantograph fast charging system. This system allows the bus to charge at stops or terminals during short breaks, enabling it to provide uninterrupted service 24 hours a day.
The bus's battery is an 111.6 kWh LTO battery developed by ASELSAN. This battery offers high performance, long lifespan, and safety. The bus's range is stated as 80 km. The bus's electric traction system also bears the signature of ASELSAN. This system provides the bus with high torque, low noise, and low vibration. In addition, the bus is equipped with intelligent driver assistance systems developed by ASELSAN. These systems assist the driver by sensing the bus's surroundings. For example, systems such as lane keeping assist, blind spot warning system, and collision avoidance system increase the bus's safety.
Developed through a partnership between BMC and ASELSAN, the Procity+ 12M EV was showcased for the first time at Busworld Europe 2023. The bus, which attracted significant attention at the fair, received high praise from leading industry officials. In his speech at the launch ceremony, BMC Chairman Fuat Tosyalı stated that BMC will continue to produce accessible, robust, reliable, and environmentally friendly vehicles by closely following industry changes. ASELSAN Deputy General Manager Mehmet Çelik also noted that ASELSAN produces motors ranging from 70 kilowatts to 7 megawatts and that their collaboration with BMC represents a significant step in the electric bus sector.
