At the SSB 7th R&D Panel meeting, it was decided to initiate 4 projects and launch Broad Area Calls (SAGA) in 2 fields.
The seventh R&D Panel, where decisions are made to initiate R&D projects in the defense industry, was held at the Presidency of the Defense Industry (SSB). In addition to the SSB, representatives from the Ministry of National Defense, the Turkish Armed Forces, and TÜBİTAK, as well as academics involved in the projects, participate as members of the R&D Panels. At the SSB R&D Panels, decisions are made to initiate projects for the development of critical components needed by the Turkish Armed Forces' existing or planned systems and platforms, or for the development of new technologies for the future.
R&D Projects and SAGA Calls Approved as a Result of the 7th R&D Panel Meeting of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB).
Multicore Microprocessor Development Project
The project aims to design and verify a multi-core microprocessor, develop operating system support packages, and provide an integrated demonstration of all developed components. The developed processor will be used primarily in military weapon systems, but also in mission computers for various systems and platforms.
Aviation Engine Components Development Program Phase 2 Project
The project will develop and validate three different superalloys used in the manufacturing of gas turbine engine components that meet the requirements for operating under high temperatures and high pressures. This will eliminate dependence on foreign sources for these critical materials needed for gas turbine aviation engines, particularly the Turboshaft Engine, for which domestic development efforts are ongoing.
Development of Functional Transition Material (FGM) Processes with Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing (DED) Technology Project
Within the scope of the project, a robotic system consisting of powder spraying and laser feeding units for additive manufacturing processes using directed energy deposition will be developed. With this system, a prototype of a liquid-fueled rocket engine nozzle extension with a transitional material structure, used in rocket and missile projects, will be produced.
Project for the Development of PEM Fuel Cell Technology for Directed Energy Weapon Systems (DEWS):
The project aims to develop a PEM fuel cell-based power source that will provide the electrical energy needed for a "Directional Energy Weapon System" mounted on a tactical wheeled vehicle to perform its mission. This will reduce noise and vibration loads affecting the target hit performance of the "Directional Energy Weapon System," minimize its thermal and acoustic signature making it more difficult to detect, and provide a power source that is advantageous in terms of volume and weight compared to conventional power sources.
Development of Swarm Communication Technologies Defence Industry Wide Area (SAGA) Call
This call aims to develop flexible, non-planning, low-latency, high-bandwidth waveforms, mission planning software, and communication systems that ensure communication security for homogeneous or heterogeneous swarm systems of unmanned aerial, land, and sea vehicles. Projects initiated through the SAGA call will contribute to the development of systems for unmanned land, sea, and air vehicles. To Herd Systems new communication capabilities will be won.
Development of Centralized/Distributed Herd Management Technologies Defence Industry Broad Area (SAGA) Call
This call for proposals aims to increase the level of autonomy, allowing the operator to control the swarm as a whole, rather than individually monitoring the behavior of each swarm member. Through projects initiated under the SAGA call, swarm systems consisting of unmanned ground, sea, and air vehicles will gain the functionality to perform joint tasks with a high level of autonomy.
