The Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle – Alternative Energy Vehicle Races, organized by TÜBİTAK Science and Society Directorate, were held at the Kocaeli Körfez Race Track between August 21-27, 2017.
In the Hydrogen Powered Vehicle 'Hydromobile' category final held on August 26th, Yıldız Technical University Alternative Energy Systems Club came first with their vehicle named Sirius, while Anadolu University Hidroana team came second and Mersin University Tarsus Technology Team came third.
The final race of the Battery Electric Vehicle – Electromobile category was launched on Sunday, August 27th, with the participation of TÜBİTAK Vice President Assoc. Dr. İlker Murat AR. The Çukurova University Electromobile Team's vehicle, named 1.5 Adana, took first place by completing 30 laps on the 1950 m track in 65 minutes with the least energy consumption. The Istanbul University MilAT 1453 team came second with their vehicle, Azak, and the Istanbul Aydın University Elektroaydın team came third with their vehicle, Elektroaydın Aura. The first-place winners in both categories received 25,000 TL, the second-place winners 20,000 TL, and the third-place winners 15,000 TL in cash prizes, along with trophies and medals.
