HAVELSAN and Turkish Airlines Technical Inc. have completed the development of Wireless IFE – SKYFE, a project they have been working on jointly for two years under a Strategic Cooperation Agreement.
The installation, integration, and in-flight ground tests of the first prototype of the Wireless In-Flight Entertainment System (Wireless IFE – SKYFE), the first domestically developed In-Flight Entertainment System in Türkiye, which will provide passengers with access to their personal electronic devices (tablets, laptops, smartphones) via wireless network connection (Wi-Fi) through iOS, Android, and web applications, have been completed.
The system, for which a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) application was submitted on June 30, 2014, is expected to receive certification approval in January 2015. Following the certification approval of the first prototype product, mass production will begin for all domestic and foreign airlines, primarily Turkish Airlines (THY).
