MİLGEM Projesi’nin 5. gemisi olarak inşasına başlanan milli fırkateyn TCG İstanbul, İstanbul Tersanesi Komutanlığı’nda düzenlenen tören ile denize indirildi.
Istanbul fırkateyni Türk Deniz Kuvvetlerinin daha uzun menzilli silahlara, hava savunma sistemine ve daha fazla çeşit silah sistemine ihtiyaç duymasıyla birlikte MİLGEM Korvetlerinin devamı olarak inşa edilmeye başlanmıştır. Ayrıca İstanbul fırkateyninde kullanılan yeni güç sistemleri de son teknoloji sistemlerle yenilenmiştir bu sayede İstanbul Fırkateyni Türk kara sularından Yemen’e yakıt ve iaşe ikmaline ihtiyaç duyulmadan ulaşabilecek kabiliyete ulaşmıştır.
Istanbul Fırkateyni, %75 oranına ulaşan yerlilik ile üretilmekte olup 113 mt. uzunluğa, 14,4 mt. genişliğe ve 3000 bin ton deplasmana sahiptir.
İ Sınıfı Fırkateyn Nedir?
The I-Class Frigate is equipped with sensors and weapons for all basic types of warfare, primarily air defense warfare, and is configured to detect, locate, classify, identify, and destroy targets, as well as provide naval artillery fire support.
The Class I frigate is capable of conducting military maritime operations such as sea surveillance and patrol, and monitoring and surveillance of the Exclusive Economic Zone, in addition to preventing all types of potential threats.
