Sedat Kılıç, a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at TOBB-ETÜ, who developed a system that saves between 40 and 90 percent on gas in welding machines depending on usage, said that this system has started to be used in approximately 100 factories in Ankara, including some well-known companies.
Kılıç, the son of a teacher father and a housewife mother, entered the TOBB-ETÜ Mechanical Engineering Department in 2004 as the top scorer in science and studied there on a scholarship throughout his education.
Kılıç stated that the idea of developing a gas saving system for welding machines arose when Recep Kabran, a family friend and welder for 30 years, complained about the rapid depletion of gas in his welding machines. He then explained that they began working on a gas saving system together with Kabran.
