ASELSAN is starting mass production of its 35 mm air defense systems, which proved their effectiveness against air-to-ground missiles in 2015 and earned the title of "Missile Hunter".
Activities under the "35 mm Air Defense System Modernization and Fragmented Ammunition Supply" contract, signed between ASELSAN and the Undersecretariat of Defence Industry on December 29, 2017, commenced with a signing ceremony held on January 15, 2018.
One of the most important components contributing to the high effectiveness of ASELSAN's air defense gun systems against current air threats is the 35 mm Fragmented Ammunition. Development of the 35 mm Fragmented Smart Ammunition, which began with a contract signed with SSM in 2010, was carried out by ASELSAN in collaboration with MKE Corporation and TÜBİTAK-SAGE. The signed contract is also a first for our country, as it involves the mass production of a smart ammunition developed entirely domestically for use in barrel weapons.
The serial production of the KORKUT Self-Propelled Low-Altitude Air Defense System, developed by ASELSAN and used by the Turkish Land Forces Command since 2016, which was started last year, is successfully continuing.
The KORKUT System, mounted on a tracked vehicle and possessing high maneuverability, can provide air defense for military units and critical facilities in both stationary and mobile configurations. KORKUT, together with the "ATOM" Fragmented Munition, leaves no room for air threats.
