Otokar has announced, via a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform, that it has signed an export contract worth $1,472,080,360. The contract covers the supply of various types of wheeled armoured vehicles along with integrated logistics support services for these vehicles.
Scope of the Contract and Guarantees
According to the company's statement, the contract will enter into force following the receipt of the necessary official authority approvals, the completion of letter of guarantee procedures and the payment of the advance. Otokar will provide the customer with letters of guarantee totalling $441,624,108 as security for its obligations under the contract and for the advance payment it will receive.
Delivery Schedule and Process
Deliveries of the relevant vehicles are planned to begin in 2027 and be completed in batches over three years. The contract, meanwhile, will remain in force for seven years. This schedule indicates that the contract covers not only vehicle supply but also long-term logistics support and maintenance services.
Contribution to Otokar's Export Success
This contract adds another significant link to Otokar's recent global export successes. The company had won a major 1,059-vehicle tender in Romania and, by acquiring the Automecanica factory for €85 million, became the first Turkish armoured vehicle manufacturer to produce within the European Union's borders. The export of ARMA armoured vehicles to Estonia and the cooperation conducted with Leonardo on the TULPAR medium tank platform are also among the developments strengthening Otokar's position in the European market.
The company's statement did not specify which country the contract is intended for. In defence industry export contracts, information on the customer country may be kept confidential in line with the parties' agreement.
