During the Denizkurdu 2021 exercise, the first test firing of the ULAQ Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle, developed domestically through a partnership between Meteksan and ARES shipyard, successfully hit the target.
ULAQ is Turkey's first armed unmanned naval vehicle.
With a cruising range of 400 kilometers, a speed of 65 kilometers per hour, day/night vision capabilities, a national encrypted communication infrastructure, and manufactured from advanced composite materials, the SİDA (Side-Controlled Water Vehicle) can be used in the execution of tasks such as Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Intelligence, Surface Warfare (SUH), Asymmetric Warfare, Armed Escort and Force Protection, and Strategic Facility Security, from mobile land-based vehicles, from headquarters command centers, or from floating platforms.
Türkiye's first armed unmanned surface vessel, ULAQ, is equipped with Roketsan's 4-pod system featuring the 2.75″ Laser-Guided Missile CİRİT and its 2-launcher system featuring the Laser-Guided Long-Range Anti-Tank Missile System (L-UMTAS).
