Karsan's driverless bus, e-ATAK, which is preparing to hit the road as a public transport vehicle in Stavanger, Norway, will achieve a first in Europe.
According to a report in Forbes, Karsan's driverless bus, e-ATAK, will be used as a public transport vehicle with a capacity of 50 people in April 2022, after two years of testing. Developed by Karsan, the autonomous driverless e-ATAK is 8 meters long and has a capacity of 21 seats. Karsan's driverless e-ATAK is currently undergoing testing at Forus Business Park. After completing the tests, the driverless e-ATAK, which will enter service in public transport, will also be the first of its kind in Europe.
Level 4 Autonomous Driving Technology
With its Level 4 autonomous driving technology, the Autonomous e-Atak navigates safely on defined routes without human intervention, sensing road and environmental conditions. Following Karsan's electric vehicles that have covered millions of kilometers, the Autonomous e-Atak now meets the driving technologies of the future.
The driverless e-ATAK offers safe driving with maximum control.
The Autonomous e-Atak navigates autonomously along designated routes, obeying all traffic signs and handling situations encountered in traffic without requiring driver intervention. It perceives its surroundings using state-of-the-art sensors. During turns, it detects living and inanimate objects such as motorcycles or pedestrians in blind spots invisible to the human eye. Thus, it ensures maximum safety by controlling all environmental conditions without allowing for human error.
