SAGE, Türkiye's sole producer of thermal batteries, develops thermal batteries through TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and uses them as the primary power source in domestic and national defense industry products.
Thermal batteries are disposable electrochemical power sources widely used as the primary power source in guidance kits, fuses, missiles, acoustic decoys, guided artillery munitions, and aircraft ejection seat systems.
In military applications, where it is essential to simultaneously meet requirements such as a wide operating temperature range, long shelf life, maintenance-free operation throughout the shelf life, rapid activation, non-self-depletion, high reliability, resistance to harsh environmental conditions, and high energy density, thermal batteries have no alternative.
TÜBİTAK SAGE, Türkiye's sole supplier of thermal batteries, began developing thermal battery technology in 2002 with the aim of reducing dependence on foreign sources in national projects. Thermal battery technology has been developed entirely using domestic resources, and Turkey has acquired capabilities in thermal battery design, production, and testing.
