Designed by TUSAŞ engineers in line with the Turkish Air Force Command's training aircraft needs, and with the participation of many domestic subcontractors, the Turkish Initial and Basic Training Aircraft "HÜRKUŞ" was assembled and produced, and was rolled out of the hangar at a ceremony held at TUSAŞ's Kazan facilities on June 27, 2012.
The ceremony, marked by justifiable pride as HÜRKUŞ, designed by Turkish engineers and manufactured by Turkish technicians, emerged from the hangar to begin its flight preparations, was attended by numerous military and civilian officials, including Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Chief of General Staff General Necdet Özel, members of the Cabinet, Force Commanders, and Vecihi Hürkuş's family.
