Defence Industry Agency President Professor Dr. Haluk Görgün has announced that the acceptance procedures for two more HÜRKUŞ basic trainer aircraft have been completed by the Defence Industry Agency and the Air Force Command. Görgün stated that with this delivery, the number of HÜRKUŞ aircraft brought into the Air Force inventory has reached 4.
HÜRKUŞ's Development Process
HÜRKUŞ is the new-generation basic trainer aircraft developed by TAI. HÜRKUŞ had achieved a first in this field by receiving its military type certificate in recent months. This certificate demonstrated that Türkiye has built a technical authority capable not only of designing and producing platforms, but also of testing, verifying and certifying them. The certificate, obtained following a comprehensive process in which 1,790 certification requirements were verified and 153 tests were carried out, had paved the way for the first deliveries.
A New Era in Pilot Training
HÜRKUŞ will be used in basic and advanced flight training with its single-engine turboprop configuration. Defence Industry Agency President Görgün had previously stated: "Our pilots will be trained on HÜRKUŞ, master their skills on HÜRJET, and protect the Sky Homeland with KAAN." Within this chain, HÜRKUŞ is positioned as the first training platform for the fighter pilots of the future.
HÜRKUŞ Has High Export Potential
HÜRKUŞ's export potential is also on the agenda. According to statements by TAI General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu, there is strong international interest in both the training and armed versions of the aircraft. It is noted that negotiations with Azerbaijan have reached the signing stage, and that there are serious direct purchase requests from Gulf countries, Africa and South America. A contract has already been signed with Azerbaijan for the delivery of 14 HÜRKUŞ-II aircraft.
In a post from his social media account, Görgün stated: "We are continuing the deliveries of our HÜRKUŞ aircraft, which will train the pilots of the future, as planned."
