Togg T10F and T10X White

Türkiye's domestic electric car brand Togg's European sales have faced figures significantly below expectations in the first months. According to a report by Deutsche Welle (DW) Turkish based on data from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), only 113 Togg vehicles were registered in Germany in the first four months of this year. Total full electric vehicle sales in the country during the same period reached 223,867 units.

What Do the Numbers Tell Us?

Togg's Germany launch took place at the Munich motor show in September 2025, with deliveries starting shortly after. A total of 261 Togg vehicles have been registered in Germany to date. Of these, 148 were registered in the last two months of last year, and 113 in the January-April 2026 period.

Comparing these figures with rival brands' sales in Germany clarifies the picture. Tesla sold 15,978 vehicles in Germany in the same period, while China's BYD sold 13,825. In Germany, BYD models are sold at an average price of around 25,000 euros, while Tesla's cheapest car is approximately 37,000 euros. Togg's T10X and T10F models are positioned with a starting price tag of 34,295 euros. All three brands can benefit from Germany's electric vehicle incentive, which goes up to 6,000 euros.

Togg Management Had Declared 2026 the "Year of Deepening"

In a statement to Anadolu Agency in January, Togg Chairman of the Board Fuat Tosyalı announced that they had made 240 sales contracts for 2025 in Germany. Tosyalı also shared that the number of people using the Trumore application in Germany, through which users can track test drives and financing processes, had exceeded 50,000. Using the expression, "We see 2026 as a year of deepening, maturation, and growth in Germany," the growth pointed to by Tosyalı does not yet appear to have been reflected in the first four months' data.

Togg is the Leader in Turkish Sales

Contrary to the low sales figures in Germany, Togg is ahead of its competitors in the Turkish market. In the January-April 2026 period, 13,240 Togg units were delivered in Türkiye, while BYD remained at 6,574 and Tesla at 3,025. This striking difference shows that the brand's familiarity and user proximity advantage in the domestic market cannot be directly transferred to export markets.

Price Balance Between Germany and Türkiye

Another detail in the data is seen in the prices between Germany and Türkiye. Togg's German sales price is slightly lower than its Turkish price. While the German price of the T10X is approximately 1,817,000 TL at current exchange rates, the same model is listed at 1,869,000 TL in Türkiye. The difference reaches up to 68,000 TL for the T10F sedan model. Additionally, financing options such as 48 instalments at zero interest or 60 months at an annual interest rate of 3.49 percent, as well as government incentives of up to 6,000 euros, are offered in Germany.

Potential Customer Pool and Challenges

The Turkish-origin population of over 3 million, seen as one of the biggest advantages for Togg's Germany launch, does not yet appear to have had the expected impact on sales. When the vehicle was first introduced, Turkish automotive commentators had suggested that Turkish associations and consulates could also be priority customers for the brand. However, sales data so far reveal that the fact that the vehicle is Turkish-made is not the sole determining factor in the purchasing decisions of the Turkish community in Germany.

On the other hand, Germany's electric car market is highly competitive. The country's own brand, Volkswagen, is at the top of the best-selling electric models list. For Togg to establish itself in this market, it needs to make progress in areas such as brand awareness and test-drive-based user experience, beyond price advantage and financing options. Although the 50,000 users on the Trumore application indicate interest, it may take a longer time for this interest to translate into sales.
