Researchers and technicians at the Materials Institute of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) have developed armor systems that provide protection against explosives and bombs.
Under the coordination of the R&D and Technology Department of the Ministry of National Defence and funded by TÜBİTAK, prototype armor systems providing protection against the shock pressure wave created by the explosion of TNT and similar explosives have been developed within the scope of the "Development of Explosion-Resistant Armor Project".
The design of armor systems, modeling simulations of explosion and damage effects, and prototype production studies, initiated by TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute in 2008, have been completed. The developed armor systems were subjected to explosion tests, and all prototypes successfully passed these tests.
