Ismail Demir, the head of the Defense Industry, announced to his followers via a video shared on his social media account that a new phase has been reached in the Swarm Unmanned Surface Vehicle Project.
Turkey continues to diversify its unmanned systems. One of the dozens of projects launched to replicate the success achieved in the air with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in land and sea vehicles is being carried out in the field of Unmanned Maritime Vehicles through a partnership between Aselsan and Sefine shipyard. While tests continue in this project, which is being successfully advanced by Aselsan and Sefine Shipyard, a video was shared by the Head of the Defense Industry, İsmail Demir.
The shared video shows ALBATROS-S, jointly developed by Aselsan and Sefine Shipyard, and the newly added MİR unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) operating together as a swarm.
Given the high density of islands and islets, particularly in the Aegean Sea, it is clear that small, elusive armed swarm unmanned aerial vehicles capable of conducting such operations would significantly strengthen Türkiye's hand.
