The Head of the Defense Industry, İsmail Demir, announced on his social media account that Türkiye's first submarine test infrastructure (DATA) has become operational.
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) continues to make scientific and technological advancements for the Blue Homeland. Türkiye's first submarine test infrastructure (DATA) has been implemented by the TÜBİTAK Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE). DATA, a test platform, can test and simulate submarine munitions without the need for a submarine itself.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank inaugurated DATA. Stating that DATA is a system designed, implemented, and produced by Turkish engineers and technicians, Minister Varank said, “DATA will greatly accelerate the development processes of important munitions. From now on, the world will be talking about the munitions our submarines will use.”.
Following the opening ceremony, a test firing was conducted from the underwater firing system at the command of Minister Varank. After the successful firing, Minister Varank congratulated the DATA team and stated, "Hopefully, with the capabilities here, Türkiye's deterrent power will increase even more.".
DATA, designed to allow testing of submarine munitions without being tied to a submarine, was developed with a structure identical to the launch system of the Gür and Preveze class submarines. Capable of firing from depths of up to 60 meters underwater, DATA can also be controlled from land. Numerous sensors on board DATA ensure a safe and controlled testing environment, while firings are fast and cost-effective.

Turkey has added another successful example of domestically produced national products to its portfolio in the defense industry. The DATA facility, Türkiye's first submarine testing infrastructure, which will improve the training, testing, and certification processes of ammunition launched from submarines in every aspect, was inaugurated. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, as well as the President of TÜBİTAK, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, and the Director of TÜBİTAK SAGE Institute, Gürcan Okumuş.
The underwater firing platform was lowered 14 meters below the water's surface by a crane. Following a countdown by Minister Varank, the test capsule inside the system was launched with the command, "In the name of God, salvo fire!" The capsule, fired towards Rhodes Island due to the region's natural terrain, successfully reached the surface, much to applause.
