The closing meeting of the Graphene and Two-Dimensional Materials OTAĞ conference, where future technologies were researched and roadmaps were determined with the aim of managing the transformation in defense industry technologies, was held.

SSB President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, in his speech at the program; “Especially in the defense and aerospace sectors, lightening systems is crucial for increasing payload capacity. However, stealth, ballistic protection, and energy system efficiency are other capabilities that provide superiority on the battlefield. It is observed that foreign sources impose significant restrictions on the sale of materials necessary to achieve these capabilities to the defense sector. Due to the need for advanced technology and these restrictions, it is essential for our country to address these technologies within a specific roadmap. It is assessed that graphene and two-dimensional materials will play a significant role in the projects that the Presidency of Defense Industry will undertake in the coming years. When examining the developing and promising material technologies in the world, it is observed that application-oriented R&D studies in graphene and two-dimensional material technologies are rapidly increasing. As a country, in order to keep pace with this developing technology, the Graphene and Two-Dimensional Materials OTAĞ study has been completed with a total of 248 participants, including 114 academics from 54 universities, 91 competent personnel from 19 companies, and various research centers. I would like to emphasize that we are now moving beyond simply meeting today's needs and focusing on areas that we believe will make a difference in the future.” "That's what we've started to focus on," he said.

Focus Technology Network (OTAG) Studies

With the aim of managing the transformation in defense industry technologies and investing in future technologies, and with the goal of eliminating foreign dependence in technology areas in existing platforms and systems, the Focused Technology Network (OTAĞ) mechanism, consisting of expert academics, companies, research institutions, security forces, and representatives of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), is being carried out under the leadership of the SSB.

Within the scope of the OTAĞ initiatives, the outputs of the Technology Roadmaps, which include technology topics prioritized through collective intelligence, are presented to the R&D Panel, which convenes periodically each year as needed, and implemented accordingly. Furthermore, the roadmaps resulting from the OTAĞ initiative are published on the SSB website and compiled into a booklet for sharing with relevant stakeholders, thus creating a reference source/guide that all institutions/organizations can utilize in their work in the relevant technology field.

The OTAĞ project is being carried out by the Presidency of Defence Industries.;

The closing meeting of the Graphene and Two-Dimensional Materials OTAĞ project, one of the ongoing OTAĞ activities, was held on January 24, 2022.

OTAĞ activities were addressed through focus working groups on “Electronics/Optoelectronics”, “Composites, Protective Coatings and Paints” and “Energy”. The current and planned future technology topics were determined through a roadmap, completing the OTAĞ work, and the results were announced at the closing meeting.
