The first trial of "warm mix asphalt," developed in collaboration between TÜBİTAK and the General Directorate of Highways, was conducted on the Ankara Ring Road.
The first application of "warm mix asphalt," produced within the scope of the "Development of Warm Mix Asphalt Additive Production Technologies" project carried out by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Chemistry Institute and the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) Research and Development Department, has been completed.
Supported under the TÜBİTAK Public Research Programs, and with the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) as its client, this project, notable for its low cost and environmentally friendly features, aims to both utilize national resources efficiently and introduce innovations to existing technologies. The application of warm asphalt in Türkiye will reduce energy consumption in asphalt production by 30 percent. An average of 114 million Turkish Lira will be saved annually in production costs. The goal is to reduce environmental damage through the use of domestically produced warm asphalt mixtures.
