TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii A.Ş. (TEI), together with TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) and Akdaş Döküm Sanayi ve Tic. A.Ş., has successfully produced aviation-grade stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys used in the aviation sector using domestic resources. This achievement has resulted in the localization of these alloys, which were previously imported from abroad.
TEI stated in a post on its Twitter account, "Together with @TUBITAK_MAM and Akdaş Döküm Sanayi ve Tic. A.Ş., we have produced alloys that were previously imported using domestic resources.".
Within the scope of the production of these alloys, studies have been carried out on obtaining the necessary base alloys by primary melting method, converting them into aerospace-grade stainless steel and aerospace-grade nickel-based superalloys by secondary melting methods, and improving the mechanical properties of these alloys through secondary processes.
What is the Dinç Project?
The DİNÇ Project was launched to ensure that the turbine blades to be used in the Turboshaft Engine Development (TMG) Project, initiated to develop the engine needed for the Indigenous Helicopter Program, have high temperature resistance. Within the scope of the DİNÇ project, the aim is to develop aviation-grade stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys needed for use in defense industry and civil aviation platforms. The project is supported by the Presidency of Defense Industry and is carried out in partnership with TUSAŞ Engine Industry Inc. (TEI), TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM), and Akdaş Casting Industry and Trade Inc. The project started in June 2018 and was successfully completed in June 2023. Thanks to this project, the localization of these alloys, previously imported from abroad, has been achieved.
