TÜBİTAK has developed a domestic, environmentally friendly, long-lasting, and economical road marking paint, with pilot production carried out by BETEK Boya A.Ş., for use by the General Directorate of Highways (KGM).
During the project, the "Water-Based and Solvent-Based Road Marking Paint," developed at the laboratory scale by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) and optimized after performance tests conducted at the laboratory scale by KGM, was produced on a pilot scale by the project partner Betek Boya A.Ş.
The road marking paint, the product of two years of research, is non-carcinogenic and environmentally friendly. It complies with EU import regulations, is low-cost, long-lasting, and suitable for the country's geography. Due to its long lifespan, this water-based paint will also save on labor, raw materials, and equipment; the annual cost for 13,000 tons of paint will decrease by at least 8 million Turkish Lira.
