Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the national intelligence ship TCG Ufuk, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared the information that a tender for the TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer will be launched as soon as possible.
The national ship development projects, which began with the MİLGEM project, continue with the production of 3 new İstif-class frigates and the subsequent TF-2000 air defense destroyer.Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the national intelligence ship TCG Ufuk, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared the information that they are working to ensure that the TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer ships enter service and begin their duties in the blue homeland as soon as possible, and that the tender process for this purpose will begin in the shortest possible time.In his speech, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the TF-2000 air defense destroyer ships will be equipped with the domestically produced vertical launch system (VLS) and domestically produced air defense missiles.
ISTIF 'I' Class Frigate Project
As a continuation of the MİLGEM concept, in the "I" (İSTİF) class frigate project, it has been decided that the design and construction of the first ship, which is an extended, enhanced, and improved version of the ADA Class Corvettes, will be carried out at the Istanbul Shipyard Command.
“The Turkish Naval Forces Command is continuing the design activities for the "I" class frigates, and the groundbreaking ceremony for construction was held on July 3, 2017. The "ISTIF" class frigates, currently under construction at the Istanbul Shipyard Command, are expected to enter service from 2023 onwards.
The value of a warship platform is determined by the value and efficiency of the personnel who command it. For this reason, national and international standards have been taken into consideration during the design process, and importance has been given to the working and living conditions of the ship's personnel.
TF-2000 Air Defense Warfare Destroyer Project
Building upon the experience gained from the MİLGEM and I-Class Frigate projects, the TF-2000 Air Defense Warfare Destroyer Project will enable the construction of ships capable of effectively fulfilling the regional air defense warfare mission of our Naval Forces. This project aims to elevate our capabilities in air defense warfare, and other warfare categories, to a higher level using national resources.
Thanks to its advanced command and control, communication, sensor, and weaponry systems, it is envisioned that the system will provide depth to the defense of the homeland, starting from vital and spheres of influence, and will also contribute to the survivability of task forces operating at sea.
Significant efforts have been made to domestically produce the Multi-Purpose Phased Array Radar (MPAR), the most important sensor for destroyers intended for air defense warfare, and as a result, the participation of the national industry in the project has been ensured. MPAR will be able to detect a large number of air and surface targets from long distances and will enable the weapons envisioned in the layered air defense architecture of the ship to be used from maximum range when necessary. Studies are ongoing to determine the weapons to be used in the air defense layers to be created within the regional air defense architecture.
The TF-2000 destroyer will feature the domestically produced and improved GENESIS (Ship Integrated Combat Management System) battle management system. Ensuring the interoperability of the capabilities gained with the TF-2000 with systems possessed by allied countries is also among the project's priorities.
