Baykar Defense continues to attract attention with its innovations in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies developed in Türkiye. The company's latest innovation represents a world first. A Çakır cruise missile, developed by Roketsan, was launched from a Baykar AKINCI UAV and hit its target with pinpoint accuracy.
Çakır offers a wide range of operational options against targets such as surface targets, nearshore and surface targets, strategic land targets, area targets, and caves. It is equipped with the domestically developed KTJ-1750 turbo-jet engine by Kale Arge, which has a range of over 150 kilometers. Thanks to its design, it can easily execute missions involving three-dimensional turning points defined during mission planning.
Çakır offers high destructive capability with its unique warhead and target placement selection. Thanks to its advanced mid-phase and terminal guidance systems, it can engage its targets with high precision in all weather conditions. Its network-based data link allows for target changes and mission cancellation depending on user selection while advancing towards the target. Its design, which allows for multiple transport, and its ability to perform missions in swarm mode, make it easier to overcome enemy defense systems.
Among Çakır's most notable features are its design, which allows for multiple carriers on the platform, and its ability to operate in swarm mode. The swarm concept, which enables coordinated attacks with numerous munitions, ensures high effectiveness against one or more targets. Thanks to its unique radar-absorbing fuselage design, ÇAKIR offers high survivability. In addition to its ability to fly very close to the surface at sea and its terrain masking capabilities over land, its radar-absorbing fuselage structure minimizes its detectability by enemy air defense systems.
Design work continues on the Çakır, a domestically produced cruise missile developed by Roketsan using its own resources. The first test launch is targeted for 2022, with platform integration expected in 2023.
