Temel Kotil, General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ/TAI), announced that they have started preliminary work on "HÜRJET," the jet version of the Next Generation Basic Training Aircraft (HÜRKUŞ).
Speaking to reporters at the National Quality Movement Declaration of Intent Signing Ceremony held at TUSAŞ, Kotil, who drew attention to the company's unique products such as ANKA, HÜRKUŞ, and the T-625 Helicopter, said the following:
“The jet version of HÜRKUŞ, our HÜRJET, has begun. It's a preliminary study we started with our own resources. HÜRKUŞ has avionics that we developed from scratch. It's entirely Turkish-made. Deliveries to us will begin at the end of the year. Our deliveries to the Air Force will start in June, but we will deliver 15 HÜRKUŞs. Since the avionics are ready, we will make the jet version. It will be a good project, but it's still in the preliminary stage. The priority is the training aircraft. Ours is a preliminary study; there is no request yet from the Air Force or the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry. We are constantly building aircraft.”
