Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık stated that one of the world's most ambitious automotive testing centers will be established in Bursa, adding, "In the automotive testing center, we will conduct many tests using domestic resources, and in this way, we will keep the millions of dollars we have paid abroad until now within the country.".

Işık, speaking at a meeting on domestic diesel engine production held at the ministry, recalled that Turkish engineers produced engines for the Devrim automobile in the 1950s. Stating that Türkiye's engine expertise dates back a long time, Işık said that the issue was being discussed again after 55 years in order to meet domestic needs and reach a technological level that would allow it to compete globally.

Işık stated that the government is not only working on establishing a center of excellence for the engine industry, but also on intensive efforts to produce a domestic automobile, and added that they have implemented many projects in the defense industry to reduce dependence on foreign sources.

Işık stated that they will continue their work on developing technologies with high added value in terms of domestic and innovative production, in line with Türkiye's goal of becoming a prosperous society, and said, “We are establishing one of the world's most ambitious automotive testing centers in Bursa. Currently, expedited expropriation procedures are underway, this process will be completed shortly, and we will start the construction of the automotive testing center within the next few months. In the automotive testing center, we will conduct many tests with domestic resources, and in this way, we will keep the millions of dollars we have paid abroad until now within the country.”.
