Tests on abnormal flight conditions have begun on the Hürkuş aircraft.

The HÜRKUŞ New Generation Training Aircraft has reached another very important and critical stage in its ongoing flight testing process.

The HÜRKUŞ Next Generation Training Aircraft, designed, developed, and manufactured by engineers at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), has reached another very important and critical stage in its ongoing flight testing process.

Following its first flight on August 29, 2013, HÜRKUŞ began testing under normal flight conditions, and subsequently, tests involving abnormal flight situations known as "spin" and safe recovery from these abnormal situations commenced at TUSAŞ's facilities in Akıncı, Ankara.

The spin tests, in which the aircraft is deliberately taken out of normal flight conditions by the test pilot and put into abnormal flight situations, and techniques for recovering from these dangerous situations are determined, will be a rigorous process in which more than 500 abnormal situations will be tested.

As part of the mandatory safety measures for these high-risk tests, a "spin recovery parachute" was attached to the tail of the HÜRKUŞ aircraft to ensure the safety of the aircraft and the test pilots.

During the first spin tests conducted on January 20, 2016, HÜRKUŞ's "dangerous dance" with the clouds was watched with bated breath from the indicators at the TUSAŞ Telemetry Center and the cameras on the aircraft. HÜRKUŞ number 2, TC-VCI, witnessed this dangerous dance of HÜRKUŞ number 1, TC-VCH, in close aerial surveillance.

As expected, the initial tests, which were completed successfully, will be repeated in different configurations and conditions in the coming days as part of the flight testing process.
