The first Turkish sniper rifle capable of hitting a target from a distance of one kilometer has been produced. The sniper rifle, tested by experts, was found to be extremely successful.
Weighing 5 kilograms and 35 grams, the rifle is the world's lightest sniper rifle in its class.
Five prototype sniper rifles, developed within the framework of the Turkish Armed Forces' (TSK) "national weapon concept," were recently tested by military experts. The prototypes were found to be highly successful in the trials. The weapon successfully hit plate-sized targets at a distance of one kilometer. The manufacturer, Kalekalıp, gave the weapon the codename "KNT-308," referring to its type and ammunition caliber, but has yet to find a name that adequately reflects its success.
Melih Han Bilgin, Product Development Manager of Kalekalıp, stated that the concept was based on the Turkish Armed Forces' idea, but they acted proactively before receiving any production offers. He said, "We acted proactively, making a move to open the sector to competition." Developed with permission from the Ministry of National Defense for prototype production, the rifle, weighing 5.35 kilograms, is the world's lightest sniper rifle in its class. It is stated that the weapon is far superior to similar models due to its ability to be ready for firing in a short time.
