Three prototypes of the National Modern Infantry Rifle, developed by the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation and incorporating the best features of infantry rifles used worldwide, have been produced.

The Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), which signed the "design and development" contract for the National Modern Infantry Rifle with the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry (SSM) on January 22, 2009, completed the prototype studies of the rifle at its factory in Kırıkkale.

Designed entirely domestically and produced without any technology transfer from any other country, this modern infantry rifle incorporates the best features of third-generation infantry rifles currently in use worldwide.
